GTA 6 File Size on Xbox Series X|S Leaks at 209.86 GB

Published

Unconfirmed: treat this as a rumor until Rockstar confirms it.

Unconfirmed, but the numbers are getting specific: Xbox backend data reportedly puts GTA 6 at 209.86 GB on Xbox Series X|S, which is about 225.34 GB by decimal math.

What the leak claims

  • Global Xbox build: 209.86 GiB, or 225.34 GB, according to data shared by @Cokymoky69 from Microsoft's DisplayCatalog API.
  • Japan build: 208.74 GiB, or 224.07 GB, roughly 1.2 GB smaller than the global version.
  • Australia and New Zealand: nearly identical to the global build.
  • Xbox Store: the store listing shows 209.86 GB.

Where it comes from

The data was shared by @Cokymoky69 before the marketplace updated, and it was reported by Notebookcheck and RockstarINTEL.

How credible it is

The store figure lines up with Rockstar's 212 GB estimate. On the PS5 side, PlayStation Game Size data-mined a 210 GB download on October 27, so the two platforms look close.

Two things could explain the gap between 209.86 GB and 225.34 GB. The API may not reflect the space the game uses after installation, and the larger figure may include a day-one patch, per Notebookcheck. Xbox games are also often larger than PS5 versions because they use different compression.

The Japan difference fits a censorship theory. GTA 6 received the same CERO Z (18+) rating as GTA 4 and GTA 5, and the board removed scenes from GTA 5. RockstarINTEL notes that language, text or voice-over changes could also explain the difference.

What's missing is an Xbox-specific size from Rockstar, so the official reference point is still the 212 GB figure.

What Rockstar has said

Rockstar warns the game will need "up to 212 GB of available space, depending on your device."

When to start downloading

Xbox Series X|S pre-loads unlock November 9 at 7 PM EST. PS5 pre-loads open November 10 at midnight local time. The game releases November 19.
