GTA 6 Physical Copy Leak: Box Contents, Prices and Pickup Date

Published Updated

Unconfirmed: treat this as a rumor until Rockstar confirms it.

⚠️ Unconfirmed: an alleged image of a GTA 6 physical edition has surfaced online, and retailer information adds details that partly contradict it.

Update (November 8): Polygon reports that Rockstar has sent code-in-box editions to retailers, and that shipments have started arriving, including at MediaMarkt stores in Germany. RockstarINTEL reports that retailer MediaMarkt told fans every code-in-box copy will come with a double-sided poster, and that the poster is therefore from Rockstar, based on those messages. Push Square and Kotaku report photos of a shrink-wrapped PS5 copy, posted by a German retail worker to Reddit and since deleted. The box carries a warning that no disc is inside and that an internet connection is needed to redeem the code. RockstarINTEL says the back of the box lists a 230GB install size, while Rockstar previously said 212GB, and shows an icon saying the game has online functions. Kotaku has not independently verified the photos, and Rockstar has not commented.

Physical edition details

  • No disc: Push Square and Kotaku both say the box photo carries a disclaimer that no disc is included and that only a download code is packaged inside.
  • Poster: MediaMarkt messages to fans, as reported by RockstarINTEL, say code-in-box copies include a double-sided poster. Polygon says MediaMarkt showed the poster on its Instagram stories. Per Polygon, the poster will be given to people who pre-ordered.
  • Map: The traditional paper map is not included, according to Smyths Toys' listing as reported by GameGPU. Push Square says a map of Leonidas can be bought separately from the Rockstar Store for $0.99.
  • Storage: RockstarINTEL reports the box lists 230GB, while Rockstar previously said 212GB. Other reports cite 212GB. Neither figure has been confirmed by an official Rockstar statement on the box.

Dates and prices

  • Polygon says preloading starts November 10 for digital buyers and that code-in-box buyers can preload from Thursday, November 12.
  • Push Square and GameGPU say boxed copies go on sale from November 12, with the campaign unlocking on November 19.
  • Smyths Toys' listing, per GameGPU, gives £64.99 in the UK and €75 in continental Europe for physical code-in-box editions, versus £69.99 and €80 for the standard digital edition.

Where it comes from

The alleged disc image comes from unnamed "insider leakers" with no track record given. TelecomTalk reports it shows a physical CD with Jason and Lucia. The box photos come from Reddit posts by retail workers, which have since been deleted. MP1st reports an unverified Reddit post claiming a PS5 case mentions "online functionality supported", and says it is unclear whether the poster is official or made by MediaMarkt. MP1st says it has asked Rockstar for comment.

How credible is it

Retailer messages and the box photos now point the same way on the disc: reports describe a no-disc, download-code box. The earlier CD image is therefore less likely to show a retail copy. Polygon's shipment report is based on retailer activity. The Smyths listing is still a retailer page, not a Rockstar announcement. The Reddit photos are unverified.

What Rockstar has said

Rockstar has not officially confirmed the box photos, the poster, the pricing, the install size or the pickup dates. Treat these as retailer, press and retail-worker information until Rockstar confirms them.
